Restoration project
We bought Earl in late summer 2013 I think. From Gloucester way (about 2 hours from where we lived at the time).
I drove down to see it in my work van, bought it, then Shaz got the train down, i collected her and in the end she had to drive it back with no indicators and terrible diesel fumes in the cab as my work van insurance didn't allow Shaz to drive it!
We did some smaller jobs on it first, on the drive whilst we lived in the East Midlands. Fixing holes, leaks dashboard and various things.
In Early 2015 our house was for sale and Shaz moved to London for a job. I was out of work (contractor) so I decided to go back to North Wales, stay at my mums and rent a garage off my mechanic friend Antonio.
In Feb 2015 Earl rolled into the workshop, and didn't come out again until September 2015 - and even then wasn't really finished until March 2016.
We undertook most of the work ourselves (aside from the welding), with some advice from Antonio, Lee, Stuart and many others along the way. It was real hard work. I worked full time on the truck for 6months before I got another contract and had to go back to evenings and weekends.
I think the pictures will say more about the work than anything else so below there is an album, starting with our first trip out to Adventure overland 2013, a proof-of-concept trip to Scotland (Isle of Skye) in Xmas/New year 2014, and finally our 2nd trip out to Adventure overland 2015.
